Bereavement Support Groups
Because you’re not alone
Connecting with others who are also grieving, can be a powerful way to support yourself through your loss experience.
It is possible that being part of a bereavement support group could be as helpful to you as individual counselling. For some people it may even be more effective, particularly when obtaining social support and understanding your grief are important goals for you.
Counselling4Loss is now seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to participate in group counselling.
You can be experiencing any kind of loss. Counselling4Loss will then screen each person to understand their therapeutic needs and the type of loss that they are experiencing.
Effort is made to group people experiencing a similar type of loss such as the loss of a partner, the loss of a parent or the loss or a pet. Members must be at least 3 months past their loss.
Groups will consist of 4-6 people and will only be scheduled to commence when enough people are screened and selected.
Being in a support group will give you the chance to:
- Give and receive support
- Try out new coping strategies to deal with your grief
- Openly express your feelings
- Understand your thoughts and emotions better
- Connect with others going through something similar
- Build your confidence and self-esteem
Who is for it ?
- A six-week closed group (4–6 people) held in the Balwyn/ Kew area (however other locations may be possible)
- Two-hour weekly sessions with flexible structure
- Breathwork, mindfulness, and self-care practices to support your emotional wellbeing
- Connection, validation, and shared understanding
Express your interest now in joining a support group.
